CONTRACT PAYMENT: The ensured safety of his loved ones. It sounds very easy and obtainable, but this is very much the "they don't encounter any sort of danger whatsoever in their lives" level of asking. Also, loved ones include friends, family, and those he'd consider himself allied to... which is ever growing.

QUESTIONNAIRE: What are your greatest regrets, if you have any? What would you have done differently?
Rei's greatest regret, spoken or not, is in leaving his younger brother alone in such a tumultuous time of their lives. He sees as something he could not have avoided though, as there were others who needed him just as much... but that doesn't mean he doesn't regret it, not being able to be there when Ritsu needed him most-- though he couldn't have known just how bad it was at the time, from where he stood.

How do you define "failure"? How do you deal with the consequences of failure, from light to severe?
He defines failure as being unable to do what you set out to do, or otherwise bringing unnecessary harm to yourself and others in the process. If you push yourself too hard and collapse, or if you hurt others by pushing them away in thinking that's what best for them, then he considers them failures of a kind. In consequence of others' failures, he takes the time to tell them what went wrong, how they should have done it, so on and so forth. And in consequence of his own failures... Rei is very much someone who does all he can to atone, whether the other wants it or not.

An oni of the Shuten Clan has gone completely berserk, and is going on a violent rampage through the city. You can't stop him, but you CAN lead him elsewhere, but you only have two choices: a road by a discotheque with a large crowd in front, or the nearby park that you do not know is unoccupied, and may have children present. What do you choose, and why?
The park. While it's unknown if it's occupied or not, children are smaller and more likely to run away versus fight the way adults would. They're also easier to bring to some kind of safety or protect if things come down to it. An area that he knows would be filled with people just wouldn't be his first pick if there was a chance there was another that didn't, at the very least, have as many.

An enemy of your faction has asked for a meeting, proposing a truce of sorts to deal with a greater threat. On one hand, there is indeed a threat at hand, but on the other, this person double-crossing you is just as likely an outcome. Do you agree to the meeting? Do you trust them?
Rei would agree to the meeting. Trust only comes by meeting someone halfway, and though there is no guarantee it isn't a trap he'd put himself out there first in a show of good faith with the hope that there is something to be found there. Trusting them, however, is an entirely different story... He'd want to, hence the agreement, but he wouldn't be blindsided if the situation went south.

POWERS & ABILITIES: He is a perfectly normal human boy, despite he and his brother's tendencies to claim vampirism in their roots attributed to their weak constitution and trouble with the sun. Rei is excellent at nearly anything musical, but favors piano, violin, and guitar as his instruments of choice. He's also very good at singing, dancing, and fostering diplomatic relations with others, as he's been the acting head of his family for a few years now and has gone out of country to play ambassador.

He also once lifted a grand piano using a pulley system onto a stage, which even with the leveraged help is no small feat.

SUITABILITY: Ensemble Stars tackles various issues ranging from exploitation to suicide, as well as delving into particular circumstances such as abuse, neglect, bullying, harassment, identity and esteem issues, as well as the effects of growing up within a cult environment. Quite a variety. While it's marketed for a young woman demographic, it's these depictions alongside many others (notably depression, effects of isolation, and forms of self-harm) that set it apart from similar games of the same genre. Rei himself has dealt many of these first hand in his second year of high school, and second hand in the year following that; to put it simply, he is no stranger to the evils of mankind, nor to how dark one can become in pursuit of something better.

FACTION SUITABILITY:

Shuten - Rei is a very honest person. He prefers not to use underhanded methods, and prizes face value over all -- it's why he likes his unitmates, who are just. So very themselves. As well as the MC, Anzu, as she's a very honest person herself. Additionally, while not particularly a fighter himself, he understands the principle of "might makes right" in terms of throwing around influence to het his way: he's the head of his family, he's been ambassador elsewhere time and time before, he is all-too aware of what happens when power falls into the wrong hands and the responsibility of those who hold it in helping those who do not.

Tamamo - Ah, the Tamamo. Practically the story of the Sakumas themselves. Rei has striven to be loved by the humans he loves so dearly, continuing to reach out again and again and again no matter how often he's burned to do so. Seen as a monster due to a combination of his natural talent and Eichi Tenshouin's careful scheming to turn his kind heart into the pinnacle of helplessness, Rei values effort and reciprocation. He also likes to have his fair share of knowledge to see what helps others best, to make them happy and keep them safe. To live is to be free, and to be free is to live — that is something he holds in high regard, and would do what he could to protect.

Sutoku - He's very much a man who tends to have his finger in every pie, to ensure the safety of a bright future, and does what he can to obtain it: that is, Rei is a very charismatic speaker, and quite good at picking up what would sway others best. Rei's had his fair share of unionizing smaller units in order to overcome powerhouses as well, so he'd admire the Sutoku's similar history very much and resonate with that.

Enma - As an ambassador, and as a largely influential person in his corner of the world, Rei is very much a peacekeeper himself. While he won't think twice about nipping trouble in the bud, if it endangers the people around him so, he is all in all someone who understands and values that people make order, and order is what drives a correct system. If there is something wrong with a system, then you have to find the root and pull it out -- whether from the outside, or in it. But a working system that takes care of its citizens, that keeps the peace, that keeps them safe and happy -- that's fine, and it's ideal.
